Creating a meaningful impact for current and future students
Giving Tuesday, held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is the annual day of generosity held globally. Alumni, family and friends of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ came together for this year’s day – helping to support current and future students by collectively raising $97,907.
Gifts to the Fund for ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ, the university’s annual fund, provide current-use support for every student on campus today. In honor of Giving Tuesday, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ donors made gifts to help all facets of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ experience, ranging from scholarships and academic departments to athletic teams, the arts, campus life, student support services and more.
As part of the day, members of the Advancement team held the inaugural Bears Say Thanks Week – a week of activities and tabled events – to allow students to say thank you to donors, be part of giveaways, spread the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ giving spirit and learn more about philanthropy at ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ.
Friends and alumni of Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary also came together with support for the seminary’s annual fund, the New Life Fund, as well as several student scholarships by donating $29,510 – more than doubling last year’s total. These gifts will directly support seminarians enrolled on the Columbia, South Carolina campus and in the hybrid program.
This giving effort kicks off a year-end fundraising push to raise further support for the people and programs that make up our extraordinary community. Thank you to all our donors for their support of ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ and Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.
Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist Tim Egan will visit ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ in March 2027 to deliver the inaugural Huffman Lecture on Social Justice, focused on democracy and civic responsibility.
