������Ƶ will receive $4.3 million as part of the North Carolina state budget that was signed into law on November 18.

Part of the American Rescue Plan, the one-time funding will be used to help ������Ƶ recover from the economic challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, $1.3 million will help the university recover lost revenues from the COVID-19 pandemic. An additional $3 million is designated for capital improvements. 

“Unlike many colleges, ������Ƶ has not reduced faculty or staff, cut benefits, eliminated programs or tapped its endowment during the pandemic,” said Dr. Fred Whitt, ������Ƶ president. 

Whitt expressed his appreciation to North Carolina State Senator Dean Proctor for his support. 

“We are incredibly grateful to Dean for his leadership,” Whitt said. “His work on behalf of ������Ƶ has been invaluable, and this funding will provide critical resources for ������Ƶ.”
