Lisa Harris serves as the director of the professional studies program and is a professor of business and communication within the College of Business and Economics. She joined ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ in 1998. During her tenure, she has also served as chairperson for the Journalism and Mass Communication program and faculty advisor for the student-run campus newspaper.
Harris teaches courses in business communication, ethics, management and leadership, with expertise centered around teaching and developing multi-type courses utilizing learning management systems in a variety of platforms including online, hybrid or traditional face-to-face.
Her research interests primarily focus on online instructional design, professional and business communication and the use of Open Educational Resources. In 2020, she received a grant from NC Live to explore using open educational resources within courses. In 2006, she received the ÁñÁ«ÊÓÆµ Community Service Award for her work in nonprofit organizations.
